E³UDRES² Citizen Science Conference

E³UDRES² is organizing its first ever International Citizen Science conference at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Portugal, from 29th to 30th June 2023!

The conference aims to provide new citizen scientists with a comprehensive overview of the field, including:​

A beginner-friendly introduction to citizen science

to help those who are new to the field better understand its scope & relevance.​

Success stories & best practices

which will offer practical guidance & inspiration to help attendees develop their own projects.​

Strategies for engaging society

with a focus on inclusive practices & community outreach, to help attendees build a network of engaged & enthusiastic participants.​

The E³UDRES² Citizen Science Conference will take place at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (Barreiro Campus), Portugal.

We welcome submissions for communication from researchers, citizen scientists, and students!

Our first E³UDRES² Citizen Science Workshop is open to all members of our E³UDRES² Insitutions. We are looking forward to exploring the Citizen Science opportunities for our Alliance together!

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Cristina Luís

With a PhD in Biology, Cristina Luís is currently a researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Portugal). She conducts research in the areas of science communication, citizen science, science and society, history of science and history of horse domestication. Cristina is part of the promotion team of the Portuguese Citizen Science Network and coordinates a research project on the history of citizen science in Portugal.

Joana Lobo Antunes

Head of Communication at Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal). Lecturer in Science Communication and Social Media for Scientists, FCSH NOVA and Universidade Nova de Lisboa Doctoral School. She is the coordinator of a science radio show "90 Segundos de Ciência" (since 2017), multimedia program "Explica-me como se tivesse cinco anos" (since 2020) and a science podcast "110 histórias | 110 Objetos" (since 2021). Founder and former President of Portuguese Science Communicators Network SciComPT.

The conference is open for citizen scientists, researchers, students, and non-academic staff from all nine E³UDRES² Institutions:

Yes, students from all our E³UDRES² institutions can (and are encouranged to) participate, with or without a contribution.

Yes, participants without contributions are welcome. We are planning on a few interractive sessions where participants can receive feedback and advice from experts and citizen scientists. So if you are not brining a contribution we encourage you to bring your questions and citizen science ideas and concepts :)

The extended deadline for abstract submission is the 24th of April.

After submission, the abstracts will be redirected to our scientific committee and go under review. All reviews will be completed until the 5th of May. Until then you should be notified about the status of your submission. If you have not received feedback on your abstract until the 5th of May, please contact us at office@eudres.eu

The E³UDRES² Citizen Science Conference is free for all participants. For reimbursement of travel and accomodation fees please refer to your local E³UDRES² coordinators.

The abovementioned programme is preliminary and will be finalized soon. If you are a registered participant you will receive the final programme via email.
