Marcel van Dongen, Applied Psychology student at Saxion University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and current Chair of the E³UDRES² Student Board for Saxion UAS, brings extensive experience from his roles in student representation into the alliance. In this interview, he shares what motivates his involvement, why international cooperation matters to him, and what he hopes to strengthen within E³UDRES².
Could you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Marcel van Dongen, and I am a third-year Applied Psychology student at Saxion UAS. Alongside my role as Chair of the Saxion Student Board within the E³UDRES² European University, I am also Chair of Saxion’s Central Participation Council, Vice Chair of my Academy Council, and a member of the Cobex/GAC. Through these roles, I have gained valuable experience in student representation and governance, which I bring into an international context with E³UDRES².
What are the main priorities for you and the Student Board at Saxion right now?
Looking ahead, the Student Board’s main focus is on increasing awareness and understanding of E³UDRES² within Saxion, among both students and staff. Currently, many people are unfamiliar with what E³UDRES² is, what it does, and what opportunities it offers. Our aim is not only to inform, but also to make people curious and engaged, by encouraging students and staff to explore how they can contribute to E³UDRES² and international cooperation themselves. By embedding E³UDRES² more clearly within Saxion’s education and everyday practice, our goal is to strengthen its impact and help build a connected European university.
