E³UDRES² discussing STEAM at the Education & Innovation Summit

The 2022 Education & Innovation Summit organized in Brussels last week brought together key actors from the world of Education and Innovation to share knowledge and inspiring experiences on innovative education practices. The event offered the opportunity to get informed about the role of European universities in European innovation, focusing on skills, university-business cooperation and digitalisation. The summit was joined by E³UDRES² lead coordinator Hannes Raffaseder, who used the opportunity to give insights into enhancing the attractiveness of STEAM, as well as interdisciplinary elements of learning.

Innovative learning using STEAM disciplines

In a plenary session titled "STEAM skills for an innovative Europe", E³UDRES² lead coordinator Hannes Raffaseder discussed together with Charlotte Lindberg Warakaulle, Director for International Relations (CERN) and Paulius Briedis, General manager at School of Robotics Lithuania, how STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approaches are essential for transformative innovation by helping pupils, students and workers already in the labour market to be innovators and entrepreneurs. This and other talks and panels offered great insights for understanding the role of higher education institutions as drivers for innovation, as well as highlighting the importance of enabling creativity and fostering entrepreneurship competences of learners at all education levels. The outcomes of the discussions are also set to find their way into EU policies and programme development.
