The second Forum of European University Alliances, a gathering of bringing together members of European University Alliances all over Europe, recently took place in Barcelona. This two-day event, hosted under the Spanish Presidency of the European Union Council, brought together numerous high-ranking guests from the field of higher education and beyond, including Hannes Raffaseder, the lead coordinator of the E³UDRES² Alliance, as well as Michal Karpisek, Senior Policy Officer for the E³UDRES² Alliance.

The event, held on September 14th and 15th, provided a platform for universities, academics, and policymakers to discuss the future of higher education and research collaboration in Europe within the scope of the European Universities Initiative. Speakers at the event included Sophia Eriksson-Waterschoot, Vanessa Debiais-Sainton and Tine Delva, all representing the European Commission, Ludovic Thilly from the FOREU2 Initiative, as well as countless experts coming from European University Alliances.
The European Universities Initiative, part of the European Commission's broader efforts to create a European Education Area, took center stage. The initiative aims to foster excellence and innovation in higher education by promoting collaboration between universities across the continent. The Forum highlighted the importance of international collaboration in higher education and research. Participants acknowledged the need to strengthen partnerships with universities and promote academic mobility to enhance the global competitiveness of European higher education institutions. The Forum of European University Alliances in Barcelona concluded with a commitment to continue fostering collaboration among universities, policymakers, and stakeholders to strengthen European higher education and research.
