At the end of June, the second edition of the European Education and Innovation Summit took place in Brussels. E³UDRES² lead coordinator Hannes Raffaseder spoke at the event during a panel discussion titled “Higher education and innovation actors join forces". The event also featured keynotes of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, and interesting inputs from other higher education professionals.
The summit brought together many key players in education and innovation, aiming to strengthen cooperation and inspire the wider education, research and innovation community to promote an entrepreneurial and innovation-driven culture in Europe. „We enter a new age of collaboration, leaving the silos of disciplines, faculties, narrow defined scientific communities and their interest and pressure groups! For about two decades we promote interdisciplinary, out-of-the-box thinking, still vague concepts of universities' third mission and technology transfer. But these are still linear approaches handing over outputs only on a few well defined contact points. What we enable today is knowledge exchange and much more agile, dynamic and interactive collaborations that bring in various stakeholders from the very beginning and incorporate education, research, innovation and services for/with society as interrelated aspects rather than treating them as seperated university missons“, states Hannes Raffaseder in his contribution during the event.
