On 27 September 2024, it was once again time for the European Researchers' Night - an annual event hosted across Europe, aiming to put science and research in the spotlight for one evening. Various E³UDRES² universities took part in the celebrations, hosting activities for students, staff and the general public alike.
Collaborating with the University of Graz, the Austrian E³UDRES² team travelled to Styria to join the European Researchers' Night activities on campus. The event, designed to celebrate science and foster engagement between researchers and the public, gave the opportunity for E³UDRES² to host an interactive booth, where visitors got to win small prizes for their participation and get informed about the activities of the alliance. The highlight of the evening was when a E³UDRES² Science Pub Quiz took place, where quiz hosts Alex and Ramona provided the eagerly waiting quiz participants with one hour of interesting science questions to solve. With the room being at full capacity, a lucky family team emerged as the winners following a draw.
Visitors at the E³UDRES² booth in Austria got to test their knowledge about European University Alliances, learning some interesting facts on the way.
Represented by the Polytechnic University of Setúbal, E³UDRES² was also present at the Portuguese side of European Researchers' Night, bringing to citizens the alliance's innovative approach to addressing regional challenges. The booth engaged visitors with materials that explained E³UDRES²' mission of bringing universities, people and institutions together to develop creative solutions for regional matters. Attendees were invited to experience a "taste" of the student challenge events by filling out challenge cards with innovative ideas in exchange for muffins, adding a fun and interactive element to the event.
Also present in both the Austrian and Portuguese events was Ent-r-enovators, a project initiated through E³UDRES², aiming to act as the core hub for research and development (R&D) for the alliance. The Ent-r-enovators team showcased their work in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, bridging academic research with practical, community-driven solutions. In Portugal, together with other scientific projects of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal, the event highlighted how collaboration and cutting-edge research are driving a more sustainable future.
