The role impact plays in higher education is often discussed. Gabriele Permoser, representing St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences as well as the E³UDRES² Alliance, attended this year's edition of the Societal Impact of Social Science, Humanities and Arts Conference hosted by the AESIS Network to exchange ideas about this topic. Organized in Cardiff at the end of October, the event was a platform for showcasing how impactful higher education activities can be achieved, as well as learning from various best practice models.
The conference brought together renowned international speakers and experts in the fields of social science, humanities, and the arts. With the central theme being "impact", it provided also an unique opportunity for E³UDRES² to share experiences and outcomes of the activities within the network: In a presentation, Gabriele Permoser highlighted the impactful work of the alliance, explaining the concepts behind E³UDRES² I Living Labs or Bootcamps, for example. These challenge-based events deliver solutions to real world problems, which was met with great interest by the audience.
The conference's international audience was eager to discover more about the E³UDRES² alliance's activities and the outcomes they have generated. The event served as a reminder that universities play a vital role in driving societal change and making substantial contributions to their regions.
