E³UDRES² Voices:

Leopold Kögler-Vencour

July 2026 | #staff

Introducing Leopold Kögler-Vencour, who is helping shape the future of European higher education through E³UDRES². Working across several initiatives within the alliance, Leopold has contributed to the development of joint master's programmes such as GRACE and JEUDITH while supporting collaboration in education, research, and innovation. What inspires him most is the opportunity to co-create a new model of European university cooperation together with colleagues and partners from across Europe.

'The European Universities initiative is still a young movement. Today, we have the opportunity to shape what this collaboration will look like in the future and create something entirely new together.'

My E³UDRES² Moment

Working with colleagues from across Europe has become completely natural to me. Today, my Portuguese colleagues feel just as much like colleagues as those in St. Pölten. One moment that stands out was when we celebrated my milestone birthday together during the General Assembly. Experiences like that show how close our collaboration has become.

My Biggest Learning

International collaboration means discovering different ways of working and gaining new cultural perspectives. It broadens your horizons tremendously. At the same time, you learn from one another and develop new approaches together-for example, by comparing how different universities tackle similar challenges.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next

Our delegation visit to our partner institutions in the Western Balkans showed just how much potential new partnerships can unlock. Now I'm looking forward to building on the connections we made and turning them into concrete joint projects in teaching and research. That's how meaningful, long-term collaboration grows.

Europeanness Means to Me

Democratic values, human rights and respectful dialogue. To me, Europeanness means creating connections and embracing diversity as a strength.

My Advice for Colleagues

Be curious, take advantage of the opportunities and try out new formats. The E³UDRES² team is always happy to support you. The more people get involved, the stronger our shared network becomes.

My Wish for E³UDRES²

I hope that everyone sees themselves as part of E³UDRES²—regardless of whether they work in research, teaching or administration. It shouldn't be 'USTP and E³UDRES²'. We are all E³UDRES²
