The E³UDRES² PhD Summer School 2026 – The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Science and Education brought together 35 master's and doctoral students from six European countries for a week of intensive learning, collaboration, and research at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara.
The program explored the transformative role of AI in science and education through lectures, workshops, mentoring sessions, and international networking opportunities.
Research, Ethics & Innovation
Participants examined key topics including AI ethics and governance, Open Science, academic publishing, AI-assisted research, digital credentials, and the future skills required in an increasingly AI-driven world. Through practical activities, they explored research tools, AI applications, responsible AI use, and emerging technologies such as blockchain, AR/VR, IoT, and quantum computing.
The summer school also emphasized collaboration and innovation. Students worked alongside experts and mentors from across Europe, engaged in research matchmaking sessions, and developed international academic connections. A highlight of the program was the presentation of the CIRCULATE Center of Excellence by Corina Șoșdean, showcasing how AI and digital technologies can support circular economy solutions by transforming waste into valuable resources.
The week concluded with research presentations from students during the NETTIES 2026 International Conference and an official closing ceremony, where participants who completed the program received their certificates. Overall, the summer school provided a valuable platform for developing the knowledge, skills, and international partnerships needed to navigate the future of AI-enabled research and education.
