The prospective E³UDRES² Applied Research Center of Excellence AQUA-TECH collaborated in the "Sea, Water and Energy 2026" workshop, held at the Polytechnic University of Setúbal (IPS) on 2 July 2026. The event brought together around 70 researchers, companies, research centers and institutional stakeholders to showcase research and technological developments related to energy resources connected to the sea, water and geothermal systems.
Organised by the Energy Resources subgroup of the EnBioTech research group within MARE-IPS, the workshop provided a forum for knowledge exchange on emerging solutions supporting the sustainable energy transition. Presentations covered topics including geothermal energy, offshore wind, groundwater modelling, environmental monitoring, green hydrogen for the maritime sector, and innovative materials for corrosion control in energy infrastructures.
New opportunities for collaboration
Highlighting the international collaboration fostered by AQUA-TECH, the programme included a presentation by a researcher from Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. The workshop highlighted the strong collaboration among researchers involved in ongoing international research projects while fostering new opportunities for cooperation between researchers from AQUA-TECH and MARE-IPS. It also provided an excellent platform to showcase AQUA-TECH's research and innovation in energy technologies.
By connecting researchers, higher education institutions and external stakeholders, the AQUA-TECH supports the development of innovative solutions addressing the challenges of water, marine environments and sustainable energy.
