From 16 to 17 April 2026, around 100 representatives from European University Alliances across Europe gathered at the University of Granada, the Spanish campus of the Arqus European University Alliance, to take part in the second transversal FOREU4All workshop.
The workshop focused on the theme “Aligning Project Management and Impact: A Practical and Strategic Dialogue for European University Alliances”, bringing together alliance managers, coordinators and project professionals to exchange experiences and develop shared approaches. With European University Alliances increasingly expected to demonstrate tangible societal, regional and institutional impact, the workshop addressed how project management can more effectively support these ambitions.
Discussions and interactive sessions explored several key dimensions, including data analysis, communication, dissemination, and strategic implementation. Participants reflected on how data-informed decision-making, targeted communication strategies and coherent dissemination plans can strengthen the long-term impact and sustainability of alliance activities. Particular attention was given to translating strategic objectives into practical project management tools that can be applied across diverse institutional and national contexts.
E³UDRES² Perspective and Contribution
E³UDRES² was represented by Gabriele Permoser, Managing Director of E³UDRES², who contributed to the exchange on aligning operational project management with broader strategic and impact-oriented goals. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to situate E³UDRES² experiences within the wider European Universities landscape and to learn from parallel approaches developed by other alliances.
Set against the backdrop of the world‑famous Alhambra, the workshop offered an inspiring setting and also a strong symbolic reminder of Europe’s shared cultural heritage and future-oriented collaboration. Over the two days, participants collectively laid the foundations for a more impact‑driven orientation of project management, strengthening cooperation between alliances and reinforcing the role of FOREU4All as a platform for mutual learning.
The outcomes of the workshop will feed into future FOREU4All activities and support European University Alliances, including E³UDRES², in further professionalising project management practices and maximising their impact at regional, national and European levels.
