Professional Development Across Borders: Saxion Students Visit USTP

In September, USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten welcomed a group of Social Work students and staff from Saxion University of Applied Sciences for an international exchange focused on professional development in youth care.

Throughout the week, students reflected on their professional journey, discussed current topics in youth care and explored how support systems are organised in different countries. By sharing experiences and perspectives, they gained a broader understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the field.

The programme combined classroom activities, exchanges with USTP students and participation in the Arlt Symposium, where students engaged with current research and debates on youth and social issues. Participants also visited local youth care organisations, gaining first-hand insights into professional practice in Austria.

Beyond the academic programme, the visit provided opportunities to build connections, exchange ideas and learn from different cultural and professional perspectives. By bringing students together across borders, the exchange highlighted the value of international collaboration in preparing future social work professionals.
