The E³UDRES² alliance is entering a new phase of deeper collaboration, focusing on the enhanced integration of key educational initiatives. To facilitate and accelerate this process, the alliance has established a strategic leadership role: Director of Learning. This position will be held by Belgian higher education professional Klaas Vansteenhuyse until September 2027. As Director of Learning, Klaas will strengthen connections between existing educational initiatives and stakeholders across E³UDRES² partner institutions, fostering a more integrated and impactful educational portfolio. His role includes identifying new opportunities, promoting institutional collaboration, and supporting members in implementing educational innovations.
Hannes Raffaseder, President of the E³UDRES² European University Alliance, emphasises: “Flexible and innovative learning is one of the crucial elements of the E³UDRES² alliance. We believe that Klaas will contribute to boosting joint learning activities while also setting a clear direction for long-term development.”
Unlocking the Potential of Joint Learning
In close collaboration with all E³UDRES² partners, Klaas will focus on expanding the alliance’s educational offerings, particularly high-potential formats designed to attract a diverse student base. His initial priorities include expanding the network of engaged educators across partner institutions and further facilitating collaboration among institutional representatives to address common challenges.
Klaas assumes this role in May 2025. Holding a PhD and boasting extensive research experience, he has played a role in the internationalization of higher education. Over the past six years, he has served as Head of Educational and Student Services at E³UDRES² partner UCLL University of Applied Sciences (Belgium) and has been actively involved in the European University Alliances since their inception. Now, as part of the E³UDRES² Alliance, Klaas brings his diverse expertise and hands-on experience to drive forward its ambitious educational agenda.
