I Living Labs | Spring 2026

Shaping the Future of Higher Education – Together

The future of higher education affects us all – that’s why it’s so important to rethink it together. As the world changes rapidly, education must evolve to stay relevant, inclusive, and future-ready. This I Living Lab invites you to take an active role in imagining what higher education could and should look like in the years to come.

Together, we’ll explore big questions: What skills will students need in the future? How can universities become more accessible and diverse? What role should technology play? Through open discussions with stakeholders’ collaborative teamwork, and real-world challenges from across Europe, you’ll have the chance to reflect on your own experiences and contribute your ideas to a shared vision for the future.

This is more than just a course – it’s an opportunity to be part of a challenge that matters. Your voice counts, and your perspective can help shape a better, more meaningful education system for the future. By learning with and from each other, we can go further than any of us could alone.

I LIVING LAB FAQS

An I Living Lab brings together students, researchers, and industry professionals to collaboratively develop innovative, sustainable, and practice-oriented solutions to real-life challenges. This year, it focuses on exploring new ways to design, connect, and transform higher education through collaboration, creativity, and shared learning.

Financial support is provided to participants depending on your home institution’s policies. Make sure to check with your local coordinator to know how much of your costs you can get covered.

Your team will consist of European students coming from all across our E³UDRES² partnering institutions. Some of them are also Erasmus students, which means that you can even have students from all around the world in your team.

Next to students, you'll also have a coach on your team (your Educational Entrepreneur), and of course the challenge owner.

The coach, or educational entrepreneur, is often a teacher from one of the higher education institutions involved in E³UDRES². They won't teach stuff, but will guide you through the I Living Lab. This means they will help if you are lost or that they can offer interesting pieces of information on the moment you need them.

Cancellations or modifications are only accepted in cases of emergency. In all such cases, participants are required to inform the responsible person at their sending institution as soon as possible.

Yes. Accommodation will be available at MATE’s Szent István Campus dormitory in Gödöllő, offering a budget-friendly option. Please note, however, that staying in Gödöllő involves a longer daily commute (approximately 70–90 minutes by public transport) to the Buda Campus in Budapest.

Alternatively, participants may choose to stay in Budapest, where numerous hotels and hostels are available. It is recommended to book accommodation close to the campus (Villányi út 11–13, 1114 Budapest) or near a metro station, which provides easy access to the city and to MATE’s Buda Campus. Recommended areas include Újbuda, Kelenföld, and Districts I and XI, all within convenient reach of the campus.
