The EU Matters initiative, initiated earlier in 2024 by the E³UDRES² Alliance, has won the second place in this year's AIACE Awards. The International Association of Former Employees of the European Union (AIACE), Austrian Section, and EUROPE DIRECT Lower Austria recently presented sponsorship awards of 1.000 euros and 500 euros in the Lower Austrian Landhaus. The aim of the award is to support people and organizations that are committed to Europe in their projects and to make their projects accessible to a broad public.

In an official award ceremony, hosted on 08 October in Lower Austria, the E³UDRES² team working on the initiative received their prize and had the chance to present the concept of the campaign once again. EU Matters aimed to raise awareness about European values, democracy, and the importance of using your vote. The highlight of the campaign was a video competition encouraging university students, staff and beyond to create videos on what the European Union means to them.
Other elements of the initiative included, among others, a "Europe Day" hosted at St. Pölten UAS on May 15, 2024, a social media campaign, and a European Civic Skills Training hosted at Fulda UAS. “Our E³UDRES² team is proud to have received recognition for our EU Matters initiative. The initiative, initiated by Hannes Raffaseder, aims to put the spotlight on European issues, in particular to engage young people ahead of the 2024 European elections and raise awareness of the importance of democracy. As an alliance of nine European universities, it was important for us to contribute to raising awareness of the EU elections," says Edita Štruplová from the EU Matters organization team.
