E³UDRES² continues to advance its commitment to research excellence and innovation through the expansion of its Applied Research Centres of Excellence initiative.
Strengthening the Alliance’s Applied Research Ecosystem
In 2024, four proposals for prospective Applied Research Centres were selected for dedicated support and capacity building. These initial selections aligned closely with the alliance’s mission, values, and strategic focus areas. The teams behind these proposals were invited to further develop their research plans and activities, covering a broad range of topics within E³UDRES² priority domains.
Building on this momentum, the alliance launched a second open call in November 2025. This call was open to all researchers within the alliance, encouraging wider participation and inviting fresh, high‑quality concepts. Following a competitive evaluation process, six additional proposals were selected by the E³UDRES² Scientific Council, bringing new perspectives and further expanding the initiative’s thematic scope.
With a total of ten prospective Applied Research Centres now in development, the alliance is entering its next phase. Each group will undergo a comprehensive evaluation to assess its readiness, maturity, and potential for being designated as an official Applied Research Centre of Excellence.
This structured, phased approach demonstrates E³UDRES²’s commitment to fostering impactful research ecosystems, nurturing emerging initiatives, and ensuring that only the most promising and strategically aligned centres achieve excellence status.
